“Jesus…” Early watched him through the aftershocks. “Pretty son of a bitch.”
“Now you. You, honey. Let me see you.” He was flying, but he wasn’t going to relax unless he knew Early was with him.
Early nodded and started tugging off, moving with long, slow, measured movements guaranteed to drive him crazy.
He missed Early so much. Not just like this, but this too. “You’re all my eyes can see, you know that? You’re my everything. I want to touch you so badly.”
“Soon. Soon, darlin’. We’re going to have so much fun together.” Early’s teeth sank into his bottom lip.
“In the hot tub, the shower, our big new bed, and if your parents take the kids for the weekend, the possibilities are endless.”
“Mmm… I bet they so would…” Early’s breath deepened, and the color rose in his cheeks. “Soon.”
His husband was beautiful. It was crystal clear to him now, as he watched Early bring himself off. Denver didn’t matter, the house, even his job didn’t matter. What mattered was Early. He needed to be anywhere Early was. “I love you.”
“More than life.” Early bit the words out and shot, arching as he did. It would have been perfect, if they’d been together.
“Fuck.” Connor swallowed hard, still catching his breath. Or maybe Early had just stolen it again. “We deserve better than this, but this was fucking nice too.”
“It didn’t suck.” Early winked at him, and that smile was jubilant.
“I think maybe I’ll sleep better tonight. Maybe.” He certainly wasn’t worried about the handy asshole anymore.
“I miss you, but it’s better, knowing there’s a date. A moving van. A time I’ll have you in my arms where you belong.”
“Will you come up to close up the house with me? We could drive home together.”
“Yes. I’ll fly in next week. We can have a week together. You. Me. Closing this part of our life up.” The immediate answer suited him completely.
He knew Early wouldn’t say it if he couldn’t swing it, but he had to be sure. “The whole week? Are you sure you can do that? The kids will be okay? The ranch?”
“I’ll make sure with my folks. And Demming will be here for another three weeks, so yes. It better be.”
“Okay. Okay, great. So one week then. I’ll see you in a week.” He might not sleep after all, he was so excited. “A week.”
“Yeah. I’ll get a plane ticket in the morning. I love you.”
“I love you. Text me your plans. Kiss the boys for me.” He smiled at the handsome face on his phone. “Goodnight, honey.”
“Good night, darlin’. I’ll call you in the morning.” Early touched his phone like he was stroking Connor’s face.
He blew a kiss and hung up. Hanging up was the worst sometimes. But his good mood was back. And his man would be here in a week.
Life was good. Strange, different, but good.

Early had kissed the kids goodbye at five a.m. and grabbed a little puddle jumper to Denver. He was going to have to hit the ground running, which was fine, because he was going to have to convince his husband to leave a day early or drive overnight.
The boys summer camp was having a family day, and Early wanted Connor to be there. Connor deserved to see all they’d been up to.
He hustled out of the tram, heading out past baggage, texting Connor with his location. It was so busy, so loud, and it felt so weird, already.
Connor texted back right away, and as he stepped out to the curb, he could see the BMW headed his way. He waved, and Connor double-parked and popped the trunk.
Early tossed his bag in the trunk and hopped in the car. “Hey, you.”
Connor looked tired, but he was smiling. “Hey.” Connor leaned over and took a quick kiss, then drove off, dodging pedestrians and taxi cabs. “Was your flight okay? You got up early.”
