“Nope. But you can set the oven remotely and tell the fridge you need milk. It’s weird as fuck.” Early thought the music was great, but the kitchen? Dude.

“That’s ridiculous. Does the fridge go shopping too? On that would be cool. Does it make an Instacart order? Do you even have Instacart out here in the boonies? Come here, you.” Connor tugged him into bed.

“Uh-huh. But we got us a person. You give him a list. He has a business card.” He pulled Connor in close. “I love you. I’m so glad you’re here.”

“I love you too. And I love this bed.” Connor kissed him, then settled, resting against him.

It was a win, then. He got his family home.

Connor didn’t sleep in. He was up with the sound of his boys and the smell of coffee coming from the kitchen. He hadn’t slept much at all, in fact, because he’d kept his promise to Early. So he was a little sleepy, but otherwise felt better than he had in a month.

Except for the one thing he hadn’t told Early last night.

But he had no intention of starting that discussion before coffee, so he finished brushing his teeth, dressed in jeans despite the heat and a T-shirt, and made his way to the kitchen.

“Dad!” Jaxson jumped up and hugged him.

“Daddy’s cooking. It’s all normal again.” Jayden looked so happy.

It wasn’t as normal as he wished it could be, but it was good for now. “Good morning, everyone. Hey you.” He kissed Early’s cheek and pulled a mug down from a cabinet.

“Good morning, gorgeous.” Early patted his butt, the sausage sizzling in the pan, the scent of biscuits luscious. “How did you sleep?”

“Did we sleep?” He chuckled and poured himself some coffee. “I don’t remember sleeping much.”

“Mmm…” Early’s grin was wicked, totally unashamed. “We can nap later.”

“Works for me.” He slid a hand over Early’s ass as he walked by. “What’s first on the agenda this morning?”

“Breakfast. Then a walk around the barns? The pool?”

“I want to see the animals.” The boys said at the same time.

“Hey, Kitchen? Where are the plates?” He asked into the air in the center of the room, then laughed when there was no reply. “Smart kitchen, my butt.”

“You turkey.” Early rolled his eyes, all dramatic. “I was waiting for you to reorganize.”

He opened and closed doors until he found plates for breakfast. “Ooh. I shared domestic chore. We must be married.”

“The plates here are weird.” Jayden snorted. “They’re all colorful.”

“Right? The boring plain plates at home are way more interesting.” he teased.

“I like the plates—I want a purple one!” Jaxson raised one hand like he was in school. “Pur-ur-ur-urple!”

Jayden rolled his eyes. “Weird. I want the red one.”

“Purple, red, I’ll take this teal-colored one. And…yellow for you Daddy?” He set the plates on the table. “Who’s hungry?”

“Meeee!” his boys sang happily. He loved seeing them smile.

“Yellow works. Who wants honey butter?”

“Me! Oh, Daddy! Me!” Jaxson almost turned over his chair.

“You know, nobody got excited about breakfast when I was cooking.”
