“This should be fun. That ankle looks a little fat.” Beck got the good one on him first, before he held the other. “Ready when you are.”

“I’m on it. No tears.” He winked and pushed, forcing the ankle into the boot. Oh. Oh, man. That stung.

“I think you can get tequila for breakfast in Vegas.” Beck stood up and kissed him, tugging him close with one arm.

“I know you can. This place is like New Orleans.”

“Perfect. That should take the sting out for a while. And then we’ll wander.” Beck let him go, leaving him to take those first couple of steps on his twingy ankle on his own.

“So where do you want to go first?”

“Mob Museum. Or the zip line.” Beck took his hand as they headed for the elevator.

“Let’s do the mob. It’s closer. We can head down the strip after.”

“Have you been there before?” The elevator was crowded, lots of folks coming and going.

“Nope, but I’ve seen the signs.” Sky managed to keep his face straight. “I done learned me to read.”

Beck crossed his arms, face passive. “It’s about damn time.”

It was on now, the contest to see which one of them would crack up first.

“Next it’s time to know my figures.”Don’t laugh. Don’t fucking laugh.

Beck’s lips twitched. “Math is hard. Try Sesame Street. That’s how I learned.”

“Dude, if I could make thunder, I would do a Count impersonation that would blow your mind.”

Beck laughed through his nose, the snort sounding a little like a duck being strangled and punched Sky in the arm, letting the giggles take over. “Asshole.”

“That is no shit, babe. Pun intended.”

That just made it worse, because both of them were cracking up now, laughter bubbling out, no matter how full the elevator was.

A couple of other people started laughing, probably at them. They didn’t care.

“And we haven’t even had our wake-up tequila yet.” Beckett winked playfully at a woman standing the kind of close you only did in elevators.

“The best place is that casino bar in the middle of the Luxor. They’re so nice.”

“All right.” The elevator doors opened and he followed Beck out. “Are we going to do the ‘so wrong it’s right’ thing and have the tequila first, or eat and go get our morning medicine?”

He grinned at Beck, but he knew the answer. He flat out didn’t have the body fat yet to handle booze on an empty stomach. “Let’s hit somewhere for breakfast.”

“Omelets. You know a place?”

“Any of the diners should work, but let’s get away from here. We’ll go down to the MGM Grand and have something.”

They chatted with fans at the tram station to the Excalibur, but it looked like they were up early for the guys that had partied last night.

Once they sat on the tram and headed toward the Luxor, Beck bumped shoulders with him. “Oh. Gorgeous day!”

“It is. You want to stop at the Luxor first instead? They used to have a Titanic display, but I don’t know if it’s gone.”

“I want to do everything. So, yes.” Beck looked out the window, smiling like a kid at an amusement park. ”Awesome.”

“Let’s eat at this stop, then. You’ll love this. It’s cool, and we can wander to the Excalibur next.” This was a good idea. Beck looked like all the stress had poured from him, and it was a glorious sight.
