I watched her fish her phone out and collected my phone. I needed to get a logo. Fast.

CHAPTER 27

MYOME

Charm and I linked our fingers together and lifted our hands.

“Wooooo!” Berlin and Rome hooted and clapped as we exited the tour bus.

“Y’all did it!” Rome walked over and gave me a one-armed hug before hugging Charm.

I pecked Drix then flicked my eyes to his brother and my best friend and back. He shrugged.

Rome had flown out with him three different times to see us on tour but Charm was adamant that the two of them were just friends. Honestly, it wasn’t my business so I wasn’t trying to press the issue and make it a bigger deal.

“You did that shit, Yo!” Drix squeezed me and we swayed side to side before kissing. “I’m proud of you.”

“Thank you.” I smiled at him. “I’m happy to be home though.”

“And I’m happy to have you home.” His eyes scanned my face and he exhaled. “Pretty ass.”

I looked away even though he could see the huge smile on my face. He kissed the side of my head then let me go. He and Rome walked back to the bus and collected our things from beneathit then we headed out. Drix held my hand while he drove and I melted into his seat. I hadn’t been gone that long but it was still nice to be in a familiar place.

“Our one year anniversary is coming up,” I announced.

“I know.” He kissed my knuckles. “You want to have a wedding?”

“What?”

“A wedding?” he repeated. “White dress, veil, overpriced flowers and shit?”

My eyebrows dipped together. “Do you?”

“I don’t need one but I know women dream of their wedding day for years and all we got was a twenty-four hour chapel and a night we don’t even remember.”

“I’d be open to renewing our vows and maybe getting a white dress and taking a cute photo for the mantle and our kids to have one day, but no, I don’t need the big white wedding.” I slipped my hand from his and reached over to embrace the back of his head. “You’d look fine as hell wearing a tux and telling all of our friends and family how much you want to spend the rest of your life with me though.”

“I tell them that shit already, no special event needed.” He risked a glance at me and grinned before looking forward again. “If you ever change your mind, let me know and we can get it done. Whether it’s our five year anniversary or ten year or a random Tuesday where you just woke up and decided it might be cool.”

“Thank you, baby. I’ll keep that in mind.” I leaned over and kissed his cheek.

He turned toward me so we could kiss briefly while he slid to a stop at a red light.

“Sit yo’ lil fine ass down and put your seatbelt on,” he grumbled against my mouth.

“Okay.” I pecked him one more time then slid into my seat and put my seatbelt on.

Drix and I stopped for lunch then he headed to the studio to work on a feature while I unpacked everything I’d taken on tour. I’d brought more things than I needed and took my time putting everything in designated piles to do laundry and drop off at the cleaners.

We’d already decided which outfits from the tour we were going to bring along as openers, so I made sure those took priority, then went home, took a long hot bubble bath, and climbed into bed to read and enjoy silence for what felt like the first time in forever.

I stumbled slightly and Drix’s arm automatically wrapped around me. I giggled. He grumbled.

“That’s not fucking funny,” he said.

That only made me laugh more.

“Come on. We’re almost there.”
