I tiptoed to kiss him then joined the group.
Allison was good at her job and after several long hours we all had the outfits we would wear while on tour and noted minor adjustments that needed to be finished before we left.
Drix paid and I hugged Allison and Charm then waved at Retta before we split up.
I grabbed my man’s face and kissed his cheek several times before he glanced at me and I kissed his mouth.
“Sit yo’ lil pretty ass down and put your seatbelt on,” he said.
“Okay, okay.” I settled into my seat. “I really do appreciate you and all of this.” I gestured around dramatically.
“I know, baby.” He reached over and set a hand on my knee. “And I know when I get back on the road you’ll have my back too if I need you.”
“So you’re thinking about going on tour again?” I asked.
“Maybe.” He looked over at me and licked his lips.
“Berlin King, are we getting new music?”
“I put a feeler out.”
“What kind of feeler?”
He looked forward as the light turned green.
“I’m going on a feature run.”
“Seriously? Fuck. Congratulations!” I kissed his cheek again then settled in my seat. “How does it feel? Knowing you’re going to be actually sharing your raps with the public again?”
“Good.” He nodded. “I capped it at six features for right now and we’ll see how it goes. I ain’t trying to flood the market or no shit like that.”
I shook my head at how casually he talked about releasing music, like his whole life didn’t revolve around it and he wasn’t making an insane amount of money from his professional ear.
“I’m proud of you, Berlin.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Thank you.” He glanced at me at the next red light and I looked up at him knowing I had stars in my damn eyes. “You got pretty ass eyes,” he muttered.
“Thank you, baby.” I reached up and ran my thumb along his tattoo, then faced forward, letting my hand stay there.
We idly traced each other while he drove.
I’d gotten my official name change paperwork so the rest of our day was dedicated to changing my important documents to my new last name.
Once we wrapped that up, Drix pulled up at a bank and threw his car in park.
“Last stop,” he announced.
“Okay.” I checked my phone while he cut the engine and realized it was after hours but didn’t comment.
He walked around the car and pulled my door open.
“Come on.”
“I need to come in the bank with you?”
