“Fuck…” I croaked, slowly blinking open my eyes to stare at her. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips swollen, and I shivered when she sucked her fingers into her mouth to clean them, a wicked gleam lighting up her eyes. My core clenched at the sight, and heat rushed through my body all over again.

“You taste fucking delicious,” she murmured. And then, she gripped my hair and thrust her tongue into my mouth, forcing me to taste myself. I moaned, my eyelids fluttering shut. “See how good you fucking taste?” she asked, pulling back to look down at me.

I just dumbly nodded my head, my brain still not fully operating. She drew me into her arms and held me, pressing her face into my hair. “You drive me crazy with jealousy,” she confessed.

I just hummed, a stupid smile tilting my lips. If that was what I received when she got jealous, I definitely needed to make her jealous more often.

“Only one thing puts a dopey ass smile like that on someone’s face,” Brittany said as she dropped into the seat across from me. “Did you get laid?”

I smirked and took a sip of my coffee. “Maaaybe,” I sing-songed.

Her jaw dropped, and then, she leaned forward, almost knocking over her own coffee. I thrust my hand out to keep it from tipping over. Excitement and eagerness lit up her eyes. I wasn’t even sure she noticed she almost toppled over her coffee. “Spill the tea, bitch.”

I snorted and then leaned in, quietly telling her about what happened that morning with Coralie. And gushing about it, honestly. I was finally getting the one thing in this world I’d wanted—Coralie—and I couldn’t be fucking happier about it, even if it’d taken a lot of pain to get us to this point.

Brittany gaped at me once I’d finished talking, leaning back in her seat as she let my words settle into her brain.

“I figured she was the jealous type, but I had no idea she was that jealous,” she finally settled on saying. “And, for the record, I’m also one hundred percent jealous of you right now. It sounded fucking mind-blowing.”

My cheeks flushed, and I looked down at my coffee, wrapping my fingers around the cardboard cup. “It was,” I confessed. “A vibrator could never compare.” Brittany snorted a laugh. “She just… knew what to do.” I didn’t want to think about why she knew how to make me come so fucking hard, my brain stopped working, but I was definitely okay with reaping the benefits.

“I’ve always known she’s a top,” Brittany said with a snort of laughter. “That just proves it.” She cocked her head to the side the slightest bit. “It works for you two, honestly. You’re definitely a bottom. You’re always so submissive when it comes to her—unless she’s accusing you of lying, that is,” she said, referring to the day before when I yelled at Coralie and word-vomited my feelings all over her.

I rolled my eyes, but I knew she wasn’t wrong. I was needy and codependent, and I wanted to be taken care of. Coralie and I had always fallen seamlessly into “top” and “bottom” roles, even when we’d been friends. She took control of everything, and I just followed and let her take the decisions off my shoulders.

“I’m so scared to fall into how easy it is being with her again,” I confessed out of the blue, surprising even myself. Brittany’s face softened, and she reached across the table to lay her hands over mine around the coffee cup. “But she just…” I sank my teeth into my bottom lip for a moment, trying to figure out how to put what I was feeling into words. “She’s always been it for me. Coralie has always been my rock, and I know I have you,” I said, looking up at Brittany, “but it’s never been the same as it was with Coralie.”

“I know, hun,” she said softly, gently squeezing my hands. “I’ve always known. You two need each other, but after what you were feeling and how raw and splayed open she left you, you needed some time and space to figure out who you were without her.”

I swallowed thickly, hating that my own stupid insecurities were now trying to get in the way of what I’d wanted for so long. But I was unable to stop it. “Am I stupid for letting her back into my life?” I asked, knowing Brittany would never lie to me. She always told the truth, even if it hurt. And for that, I was thankful. I never had to second-guess with her. Never had to wonder what her motives were.

“No, Mila, I don’t. You two… you’re the kind of couple that’s just… I don’t know. Inevitable, I guess is the right word. You two are drawn to each other like moths to a flame. It’s beautiful, honestly. And even if you did want to fight this, fate is determined to always keep you two together.” She smiled a little. “I mean, what are the fucking odds that she’s your roommate?”

I smiled a little, some of the sudden anxiety I’d been feeling melting away at her words. “I love her.”

Brittany smiled. “I know you do. You always have. And if things go sideways again, I’ll kick her ass this time and help you pick up the pieces again.”

I wished she wasn’t across the table so I could hug her. Brittany was literally an amazing person and just so sweet. “I love you,” I told her.

She grinned and released my hands, leaning back in her chair and flipping her hair over her shoulder. “Of course, you do. Who the fuck wouldn’t?”

I laughed.

“You’ve been stuck in lala-land for the past five minutes,” Jessica suddenly said, breaking the silence between us. I blinked and turned to look at her, a frown tugging at my lips. She rolled her eyes. “What is up with you today? Are you sick? Got hit in the head or some shit?”

“What? No.” I shook my head. She always said the most outlandish shit. “Sorry, just… stuck in my head.”

Jessica snorted. “Well, no shit, Sherlock.” I glared at her. She shrugged. “What? It’s obvious to anyone in a ten-mile radius that you’re not here mentally.” She waved a fry around before shoving it in her mouth. “Two people said hi to you, and you didn’t even budge.”

I winced. Well, then. Guess I’d been more in my head than I thought I was.
