“I think we should amend our rules.” I can’t help the flush that creeps up my cheeks. “I think we should be able to sleep together for the remainder of our agreement.”

“Can’t get enough, can you?” He teases, smile full of self-satisfaction.

I roll my eyes in reply. “It was all right.”

He’s quick as he sits up to tickle my bare ribs. “All right? I’ll show you just all right.” I wiggle under him trying to squirm away, my breath coming fast as I fight through my laughter. I feel a rush of air across my chest and Wyatt immediately stills. When I open my eyes, he’s staring at my breasts now bared to him, the sheet previously covering them lost in our play fighting.

Neither of us breathe, and he moves his hands from my ribs back to the middle of my chest. He hesitates there. “Yes to more of this?” he asks, looking for permission.

“Yes,” I whisper.

His hands move so slowly it feels like I’ve taken one-hundred breaths before his palms cover my already-peaked nipples.

And slow is how we make it. Last night was a whirlwind of anticipation and adrenaline. Heights fueled by celebration. This is more like lounging. Like when you know you’ve got all morning to lie in bed. No plans making you get up in a hurry. Leisurely. Deliberate.

Exactly how I want to spend my morning, with the man I’ve fallen for.

Chapter Forty-Six

WYATT

“Why are we here?” Jaden stands behind the chair at our table at Frisco’s where we’re having lunch. When I got up this morning and saw Nash in bed next to me, my first thought was that I hope I didn’t ruin everything. My second thought was I need to tell someone, so I sent out an emergency SOS text to the guys asking them to meet me here.

“Yeah, didn’t you get back into town after midnight last night?” I did, and I didn’t go to sleep until nearly five AM, but that’s not why we’re here.

“I called an emergency meeting because I slept with Nash last night. And I decided on Frisco’s because I thought we needed to take a break from just getting together to lift weights.”

“Whoa,” half the table exclaims.

I look around at them, confused. “You guysdidwant to lift weights today?”

Jaden looks at Colin. “Is this man actually concussed right now?”

Colin, who has his head in his hands, just says, “Dude.”

When I don’t say anything else, Noah speaks up. “You slept with Nash?”

I hang my head, not in shame, but in the face of reality. “Yes.”

“And she knows you still don’t have a signed contract with the Hurricanes? That you could be forced to go anywhere?”

“Yes, and I told her that.”

“Is she okay with that?”

“She said she was…” I mutter.

Utensils clatter as Jaden points an accusing finger at me. “If you hurt her, I swear to–” I only have a millisecond to wonder what the hell that’s about before Colin is speaking again.

“That’s kind of a dick move.”

“I told her before we even started that I was still planning on leaving eventually.”

“You waited until you literally had her in your bed to remind her that you’re leaving? And you expected her to be like ‘no, wait, that’s actually a deal breaker for me’ in the moment?”

The waitress comes up with a huge black tray and starts doling out our meals. Jaden’s looks like a dessert: pancakes piled high with whipped cream and sugary fruit. Mine is almost all meat, plus hash browns and two eggs over medium. We all thank her after she asks us if everything looks right.

Colin takes the first chance to rip back into me when she steps away. “And now you’re tangling friendship and feelings and sex all together.”
