Clearing my throat, I force a smile. “I better get home. I’ll see you at school.”
His knowing eyes look toward the bar, and then back to me. “Okay, drive safe, Miss Masters.”
“I will. Thank you, Cash.”
Feeling a lot less optimistic than I was last night, I get the hell out of there.

CHANCE
I’m sitting at the bar, surveying the new renovations, drink in hand, when Cash comes up next to me and takes a seat. The men and women are playing pool, music thumping. We had a meeting here with the bar manager and security team, and now we’re letting loose a little.
Gia wraps her arms around my neck, sitting down on my lap. I ignore her, but don’t make any move to push her off me. I had a conversation with her and told her I wasn’t going to fuck her anymore, and I meant it. But she’s still around for the other men and has been for years.
“Come into the office with me,” she purrs, and I instantly shake my head. The office makes me think of Kenzie, and I frown at the fact that she didn’t text me back. I was hoping she would. It’s been over a week now, and nothing. I know she wants me, but she’s extremely stubborn. Waiting for her to realize that isn’t working, and neither is hoping that if I don’t see her, I can forget about her.
“Chance,” she whines, trying to turn my face to look at her.
Cash studies us with a scowl on his face. His finger twitches, a muscle working in his jaw before he speaks. “Guess who I just saw before I came in here?”
“Who?” I ask, taking a sip of my whiskey.
“Miss Masters,” he replies, staring at me with a judgmental look. “You know, Dad, this lifestyle isn’t for everyone.”
“Who is Miss Masters?” Gia asks, frowning.
Tapping her ass, I nod toward the pool tables. “Leave me alone with my son, Gia.”
She gets up and pouts before walking away, swaying her hips like somehow that will entice me.
“Where did you see her?” I ask.
He rakes a hand through his hair. “She was across the road, getting dinner. She saw you walking in here with Gia and Sassy all over you. I think you should leave her alone. You have plenty of pussy to choose from.”
Gritting my teeth, I turn to my son. He obviously respects Kenzie, and I like that, but it’s getting a little fucking annoying. He doesn’t need to protect her from me. “I don’t want empty pussy. I want Kenzie.” I pause and then give him this, even though I don’t have to explain myself. He’s coming to me as my son, not as a member of this club. “I haven’t fucked another woman since I saw her at the school.”
Head doesn’t count, right? Even then, that was only once.
His eyes widen with surprise at the information and likely at the fact that I’m explaining myself.
“She looked upset,” he murmurs, eyes looking toward the club brothers. Lust laughs loudly at something Gunner says, while Eagle pulls Sassy to dance with him.
“I’ll fix it,” I vow, clapping him on the shoulder. It feels like one step forward, two steps back with Mackenzie, but she has to learn to trust me for this to work. I’m in charge of running the club, ensuring members are in good standing, and managing our businesses. It’s a lot of responsibility, and I’m not always going to be at her beck and call.
A few of the other club girls come around, and Cash gets distracted, leaving me with my own thoughts. Pulling out my phone, I send Kenzie a text.

I’m coming over.

No, thank you. Go be with one of your ‘other’ women.
My lip twitches. She’s jealous, and although I usually don’t like that trait in a woman, coming from her, it lets me know she’s not as unaffected as she tries to play it off.
