“You’re impossible.”

“And you’re stubborn. We make a great pair.”

The corner of her mouth twitches. “My brothers will kill you.”

“Probably.”

“Pierre will literally try to end your career.”

“He can try.”

“This isn’t a joke, Fish. You saw what Pierre did on my first day. The speech. The threats. And that was just for looking at me.”

“I’m not scared of your brothers.”

“You should be.”

“Maybe. But I’m more scared of spending the rest of this season pretending I don’t love you. That’s worse than anything Pierre can do to me.”

She’s quiet for a long time, picking at the edge of the bandage on her wrist.

“If we do this,” she says slowly. “We can’t tell anyone. Not yet.Not until the season is over.”

My heart starts hammering. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”

“I’m saying if we do this, we have to be smart about it. No one can know. Not my brothers. Not the team. Not the girls. We keep it between us.”

“I have to tell Evan.”

She raises a brow. “Why?”

“Because he’s my best friend, and I’m going to also need an alibi. Plus, he already knows everything, and he’ll figure it out in about three seconds anyway, the man is a human lie detector.”

She considers this. “Fine. And I need to tell Jo, but don’t worry, she won’t tell my brothers. If she does, just know I know something she doesn’t want them to know.”

“Cryptic, but I’m fine with it,” I tell her as I grab her legs and put them in my lap, like we used to do when we watched movies together.

“And we take it slow,” she adds.

“Define slow.” I quirk my brow at her.

Next thing I know, her legs are wrapped around my waist, and she is pulling me toward her. My hands fall on either side of her face as I hold myself above her on the sofa, trying not to squash her.

“Not that slow.” She smirks at me.

“Is that so? Do you like it hard and fast?”

“Yes,” she answers breathlessly. “But …” She smirks and places a finger across my lips, torturing me. “I want monogamy.”

“Um, yeah, so do I. I won’t share you,” I tell her.

“Good, because I don’t want to share you either, especially not with the bunnies,” she tells me.

“I’m yours,” I confess to her.

This makes her smile. “I like the sound of that.” She sighs. “I’m yours too.” Hearing her tell me that is the best feeling in the world.
