“Absolutely not.”

“Justin.”

“I’ll try. No promises.” I kiss her mouth, soft and slow, and it takes every ounce of willpower to pull away. “Coffee’s coming, I ordered it on my phone, it’ll be here in ten.”

“You ordered me coffee from bed?”

“I’ve been ordering you coffee for months. That part doesn’t change.”

She smiles, sleepy and warm and mine. “Go, before I physically restrain you.”

“Tempting.”

I get dressed while she watches me from the bed, wrapped in sheets, looking like something I want to come home to every time I leave for the rest of my life. I grab my jacket and stop at the bedroom door.

“Hey, Lettie?”

“Mm?”

“Last night was the best night of my life.”

“Mine too.” She grins. “Now get out before I change my mind about letting you leave.”

The cold morning air hits me as I step outside, and I pull out my phone and call Evan.

He picks up on the second ring. “It’s early.”

“I know.”

“You sound happy. It’s disturbing,” he grumbles.

“I am happy.” I’m grinning like an idiot walking down a Manhattan street, and I don’t care.

“Let me guess, you and Collette sorted out your differences.”

“We sure fucking did.”

“Fuck. You slept together, didn’t you?” He groans.

“Yes. But that’s because we’re together. It’s happening.”

Evan is silent for a moment. “About fucking time.”

“That’s it? That’s your response?”

“What do you want me to say? I’ve been watching you two orbit each other for months.”

“Yeah, well, it’s complicated.”

“No shit. I’m happy for you, Fish. Genuinely.” He pauses. “But you know what comes next.”

“I know.”

“Pierre and Felix.”

“I know.”

“You just slept with their sister.”
