He thrusts hard one last time, burying himself as much as he can before he comes, and it’s all I can do not to join him.

I need to come.Fuck, I just need to come.

Cypress kisses me lightly between my shoulder blades as he pulls out, and I sway slightly, still seeking him, before he turns me onto my back. My still hard cock pressing against my lower abdomen as he crawls over me.

“Thank you, wolf.” Cypress’s mouth slants against mine as he kisses me, taking his fucking time with it.

“Cy—” He silences me with a sharp bite to my bottom lip before moving lower, the momentary pain enough to give me something to hang onto as I watch him.

“You’ll have to forgive my greed,” he murmurs against my skin, nuzzling affectionately at my stomach before moving down to take a long lick along the length of me. I jerk, oversensitive, and he smiles up at me before doing it again. “You taste so good when you’re desperate.”

“Cypress,” I growl, “you sadistic—” My words briefly cut off on a moan when he takes me in his mouth. “How has no one fucking killed you yet?”

He pulls back, releasing me with a pronounced wet pop. “Because you kill them first when they try.”

His head descends again, taking me down his throat, and my hands fist in his hair to try to take over the pace even though Cypress won’t allow it. His hand pulses at the base of my cock while he only lets me fuck his mouth slowly, offering me enough to make me even more desperate but not enough to let me fall.

“Fuck, Cy.” My hips thrust up, and he swallows with a groan. “Please.”

That word and all the power it provides is apparently what he’s been waiting for because he rises up again, presses a kiss to my tip, and simply says, “Come.”

And it’s enough. Enough that as soon as he has me in his mouth again, I come hard until I’m spent, my chest still heaving when Cypress at last places a satisfied kiss on my inner thigh and crawls back up my body to collapse next to me on the solid earth.

It takes me a long time to be able to speak again, long moments where both of us are just staring up at the stars that have continued to come out above us. When I finally do, I know exactly what to say. “You are such an asshole.”

He laughs, rich and rolling. And I can’t help but laugh, too. “I know. But you love me despite it.”

Another one of those statements that could also be a request. I turn my head to meet Cypress’s gaze, already knowing it will be on me. “I do, Cy.” My fingers trace his sharp jaw. “Just like you love me.”

He nods, his eyes returning to the sky. “Was it too much?”

“Fuck no,” I tell him, making him grin. “I needed it, too. Been…been an eventful few days.” I pause before continuing, “Are you worried? That things will be different now? It won’t be just the two of us anymore.”

“We’ve shared partners before.”

“This is different,” I tell him. “This isn’t just someone sharing our bed as we pass through town. This is someone sharing ourlife. Someone who has an equal stake in things.”

“I know. I was simply confirming that our understanding is the same.” A flicker of a smile plays across his face. “I’m not worried, wolf. I’ve been waiting for her, same as I was waiting for you.” His hand grabs mine where it rests between us, fingers interlacing. “Are you worried?”

“Yes,” I say quietly. “But not about us. More about…I worry about letting her in, only to lose her. About what could have happened if she hadn’t been so quick with her pistol this morning.”

“But she was.”

“What if she hadn’t been?”

“You could waste your whole life asking questions like that, Aiden. Wondering about what could have been instead of experiencing what did.”

“I know.” I let my eyes close, still sorting through things. “I think I’ve been waiting for her, too. Just didn’t know it. And it’s fucking terrifying to realize I know so little about what lies ahead.” I sigh. “If she still wants this after everything that’s happened, then I suppose she’s made her choice.”

“Suppose she has.” Cypress is quiet for a time. Uncharacteristically so, until he says, “Do you ever wish you chose differently?”

I lift up on my elbow so I can see him better. “Chose differently?”

“Cora asked me earlier today if I believe in sin,” he explains, gaze still on the stars as he frowns. “I told her that I don’t. But you do. Believe enough in the balance sheet that…you could have chosen differently.”

“Cy, look at me.” He actually obeys, turning in my direction. “I’d choose you every time. I’d follow you every time. No matter where the road leads.”

He nods, his smile returning and my mouth nearly touching his as he murmurs back, “No matter where the road leads.”
