At first, I thought he was arrogant because he was dating me, but then I watched him with other girls, and I realized it’s all him. It’s why I suspect he and Starla aren’t together anymore.

Starla was always my competition. But even Beau wouldn’t go after me so she could win. He was all about the best winners. Cheating like that would go against his code. He doesn’t have a big ethical personality, but he still has one.

The memories of the day Raine and I were hurt roll through my mind. Beau, who was usually a pickup rider, decided that morning to work ring crew. He had access to the tack room with a special key only a few people were given.

The memory is harsh and blatant as it hits me. My head throbs and tears roll down my eyes as I vividly remember that he lost the key. He swore up and down to anyone who would listen that the last time he saw it was in his room the night before.

Then Starla walked up and handed him the key, saying he left it in her room the night before. She acted like I didn’t know they were already together. Him going to her after we broke up didn’tbother me, but Starla acted like it should. I remember the smirk on her face as she handed over the key in front of everyone.

“By the way, last night was amazing.” She cooed at him before she giving me a snide look.

I just smiled and walked away. But the memory keeps washing through my mind. Beau lost the key, and Starla found it.

“Andi.”

Callum’s voice startles me from almost drifting to sleep on Raine. I sit up, and Raine walks to where Callum is standing outside of the pen.

“I woke up and couldn’t find you. If not for Butcher, I would have called in the National Guard. Are you okay?”

I smile at him. No one has ever been as protective of me as Callum.

“I’m good. I couldn’t sleep and decided to come out here to think.”

“Come on, baby, you need to be careful.” He opens the pen and walks to Raine’s side.

I slide off her back into Callum’s arms, and he carries me back to the cabin.

“I hate you walking around out here in barely any clothes, baby.”

“Butcher doesn’t see me that way, and Ty isn’t interested in me. You don’t have to worry.” I laugh as he sets me down in the kitchen, and I proceed to make breakfast.

CHAPTER 14

ANDI

We spenttwo weeks in Wyoming, settling everything with Callum’s family ranch. He’s still leaving the managers to run it, and they are purchasing a large portion of it for themselves. I thought it was a generous deal. It will keep Callum’s family legacy intact, but neither of us will have to give up the lives we’ve created in Eastport.

As I pull my truck up to the restaurant where I’m meeting a good friend, I see Butcher pull in behind me. Callum said I could have a girl’s day with Roisin, as long as Butcher tagged along.

Callum is staying at the hotel to get some work done while letting Ria have space to play. Being stuck in the car and confined to the small apartment in the horse trailer was a bit much on the little one.

The bellhop appears, and I slide out of the truck, my boots hitting the pavement. My back, which has been aching off and on all day, reminds me it’s still hurting. My son rolls in my belly, letting me know he’s still there too. I grab my cowboy hat and settle it on my head as I waddle up to the curb.

“Andi.” I hear my name hollered.

Ro walks up the sidewalk toward me. I met her when I was here after my accident. She was doing a rotation at the hospitalfor her degree in medical social work. She came into my room to cheer me up and see if there was anything she could help me with. I was a wreck, and she immediately ingratiated herself to me with the fact she didn’t know who I was and just wanted to girl talk.

Roisin pulls me into a hug, then steps back and looks down at my stomach. “Girl, you said you had news to tell me, but this isn’t what I was expecting.” She reaches toward my belly but stops. “May I?”

“Of course.” I nod, and she rubs my stomach.

“I can’t wait to have a baby. I’ve always just wanted to be a mom, but Paddy insists I go to college and be the smart one in the family.”

I don’t know much about Roisin’s family life, other than her brother, Paddy, and an aunt raised her. She keeps a lot of her life private. I know her brother just got married last Christmas time and had a baby in the last few months.

“It will happen for you soon. I didn’t expect this little guy, but Callum was serious when he said he was going to keep me in every way.” I chuckle as we walk toward the restaurant entrance.

Ro stops and stares behind us at something. I turn and see Butcher standing there, like he always is.
