Ro’s finger froze over the screen as she met her friend’s inquisitive stare. “Getting a ride home.”

“A ride? Why?”

“The alcohol isn’t settling well for some reason. I think it’s best if I just go home now.”

Okay, yeah. She’ddefinitelyslurred those words.

“Okay, but you rode here with me and Christian,” her friend pointed out. “We had full intentions of taking you home.”

“But it’s still early.” Ro started to shake her head but realized her mistake immediately and stopped. “I don’t wanna make you leave on my account. You’re still having fun with everyone.”

Meg waved the concern away. “Nonsense. Christian’s in the bathroom, but we’ll leave as soon as he gets back.”

“No, really. Stay. I can find a ride home.”

“I’ll take you.”

For the second time that night, Brody’s deep, sultry voice reached her from behind. Using slow, careful movements, Ro turned her head to find him now standing by her side.

“You don’t have to do that,” she offered.

He really,reallydidn’t.

“Not letting you take an Uber home alone when you’re drunk.”

“I’m not drunk.” She pouted. At least, she thought she was pouting. Or was she?

Shit. Maybe Iamdrunk.

Ro felt her brows turn even further inward. That couldn’t be right. Not after a measly two shots and two weak-tasting foo-foo drinks. Not to mention the glasses of water she’d purposely sipped on in-between.

She swayed again and Brody released a rough grunt. Pulling his keys from his pocket, he turned to his sister and said, “Tell Hunt I’ll see him at the range tomorrow.”

“You sure?” Megan rose to her feet. “We can take her home so you can stay.”

“She’sfine and already found her own ride.” Ro lifted waggled her phone in the air for emphasis.

Another double-crossing sway of her body did little to support her argument.

“I’m sure.” Arching a knowing brow, Brody slid his focus back to Megan. “I was about to head out, anyway. Gonna get up and hit the gym before meeting your boy at the range.”

“You still picking me up on the way?” Rocky joined the overheard conversation.

Brody gave the other man a nod. “As long as your ass is up and ready.”

“I’ll be ready.”

“What about you?” Those dark eyes found hers once more. “You ready?”

I’ve been ready for you my whole life.

Ro swallowed back the words before they could leave her lips and instead gave a short and sweet, “Yep.”

Because apparently she no longer had a choice in the matter of who was taking her home.

“Okay, well. Drive careful.” Megan pulled her brother in for a hug.

“You, too.” Brody hugged his sister back. “Love ya, Sis.”
