“Because Iseeyou, Adrian. I’ve seen the walls you put up to protect yourself, and I understand why, but I’m here.” She cupped one side of his face. “I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere. So you can tell me all the horrifying stories you want, but it won’t change the way I feel about you. Because I see you. All of you. And I still want you.”
One minute she was staring into a pair of tortured eyes. The next, his mouth was on hers, and she was being lifted in his arms and carried to the bed.
They stripped each other in a frenzy. Clothes flew in every direction until they were both lying naked on the mattress.
“Can’t go slow.” His voice was tense and gravelly.
Lying beneath him, Jenna leaned up and nibbled his bottom lip. “I don’t want slow. I just want you inside me. Now.”
Urging him on, Jenna lifted her pelvis, brushing her wet sex against his hard shaft. With a growl, Adrian positioned himself to her entrance and slid inside. Exactly where he belonged.
Chapter 8
“We missed our flight.” Adrian ran his fingers up and down Jenna’s arm. He smiled at the trail of goosebumps following in his wake.
He couldn’t believe he’d dumped all his baggage on her the way he had. Telling her about his sister…revealingclassifiedinformation that could get him tossed into fucking Leavenworth…that shit wasn’t who he was.
But maybe that was the point. He’d changed since meeting Jenna. In ways he never thought possible.
They’d had sex twice in the last two hours, and his cock was already half-hard, again. Or maybe still. He felt like a damn teenager, his body always primed and ready whenever she was near.
I can’t get enough of her. I see her and I want.
He was beginning to realize he never would.
With a lazy grin, she turned on her side to face him. Her eye makeup was a bit smudged, her hair was a mass of wild, red waves, and her lips were swollen and red from his kisses.
Hands down, the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen.
“I’m not going home,” she announced matter-of-factly. “Not yet, anyway.”
Adrian’s entire body stiffened. He half-expected to hear the loud scratching sound, like a needle sliding across an old vinyl record, because she’d just dropped a major wrench into his plans.
With a controlled tone, he asked her, “What do you mean, you’re not going home?”
He wanted to—no, heneededto—get her the hell out of this town. The sooner the better.
“Don’t worry.” Her smile made his heart kick against his ribs. “I’ll pay you back for the tickets.”
“I don’t care about the tickets, Jenna.” He pushed himself up and rested on an elbow. “I care about getting you as far away from this place as I can.”
“Why?” Jenna sat up fully, resting her back against the padded headboard. She brought the sheet with her as she moved, gathering it just above her breasts.
Such a shame.
Jesus, he needed to focus.
“Why?” He looked at her like she was nuts. “You were drugged and damn near kidnapped less than twenty-four hours ago.”
“That could’ve happened to anyone, Adrian. It’s not like Iwas specifically targeted.”
“Baby, youweretargeted.”
“You know what I mean. Unless…” She studied him a moment. “Do you know something about what happened to me? Something you’re not sharing?”
“No.” He answered truthfully. “If I did, I’d tell you.”
“Okay, then.” She got up and walked unabashedly to where her clothes still lay strewn on the floor. “It’s settled.”
