And then she was flat on her back with Cam propped on one knee beside her.

Well … okay then.

Cam woke in the middle of the night to a curvy body curled around his side and a small hand on his chest. Normally it was the nightmares that woke him, but this time it was the hair—wild dark hair—tickling his pecs.

His lips quirked into a contended smile.

His arm was asleep, and he didn’t fucking care. He loved it. His gaze dropped to Lia’s hip, where Travis’s hand rested.

He waited for the rush of jealousy to come … and kept waiting. Instead, he felt a breath of relief. If anything ever happened to him in this less-than-certain world, Lia would never be alone. Not just because of the clan they had at the ranch, but because Travis would be just as protective over her as he would be.

This relationship—as crazy as it seemed—might be the best idea they’d ever had.

Falling asleep with this woman in his arms, knowing that the man who’d watched his back through some of the most deadly scenarios imaginable was there to cover them both was unbelievably comforting—and Cam wasn’t the kind of guy who usually sought comfort. He was used to charging ahead and hoping like hell enemy fire never found its mark. But this … this felt right.

He closed his eyes and found sleep again.
