A few minutes pass before Brimstone enters with Leon, Fire, Pyro, and Leon’s bouncer, Rashon. Leon and Rashon both look to where McKenna is fast asleep. Brimstone glances her way and gives me a cock of the brow, silently questioning if she was okay. I give a slight jerk of the chin in answer and wait for the men to have a seat.

“There a reason Rashon is here?” I ask, my question directed at Leon.

“He’s one of my trusted people. I’ve briefed him on what had happened to Mick,” Leon answers, leaning forward to brace his elbows on his knees. “What I’m about to share does not leave this room.”

“You can trust my brothers that what you share will not be spread,” I tell him.

Leon nods and sits back in the chair, “Rashon’s mother is a light fairy. His father is half fae, half human. Rashon has taken more after his father’s side and is more human than supernatural. However, he does have some power that makes him reliable. He’s also loyal to me, Hel, and McKenna.”

“Okay, so what does this all have to do with anything?” I didn’t need the guy’s backstory.

“It has to do with the fact I’ve also asked my mother for a medallion to give to McKenna. It’s for protection that will hide her from the evils that want to find her,” Rashon explains.

I glance over at my woman sleeping. I could see the exhaustion in her even while she slept.

“Let me see it,” Brimstone demands, hand out stretching, palm up, waiting.

Rashon withdraws it from his pocket and hands the dainty necklace to my VP. Brimstone closes his eyes and murmurs words. Thankfully, whatever he’s doing won’t leave him spent and filled with magical energy built up to the point of him nearly killing himself.

A moment later, Brim opens his eyes and looks at me. “It’s light magic. Pure. Your call.” He hands the necklace to me, and I look at it. It’s not gaudy by any means. Expensive. The medallion in the middle will sit just between McKenna’s breasts.

“What do you get out of this ordeal for having your mother make this for McKenna?” I don’t know Rashon. I didn’t care if he was loyal or not. He wasn’t a member of this club. He wasn’t a brother of mine.

“McKenna’s a friend. I don’t want to see her hurt. The day I saw her, and you showed up, I called Leon here to tell him, and he filled me in on what he knew. I take care of the girls who work for Leon. But I always have McKenna’s back. No matter what. She’s had more than a fair share of men wanting her. You see her on stage, she’ll have you enchanted by her moves. That’s what she does to men. They want a piece of her. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten my hands bloody because of men wanting to get to her.”

“That’s a fact,” Leon grunts, getting my attention. “It’s a protection that will help, but it’s not foolproof. She doesn’t haveto wear it here at the clubhouse, the wards will do. But you go out, it’ll keep her safe enough.”

Safe enough. I didn’t like the sound of that.

“You got anything else to share?” I ask.

“I did a little digging and asking around. I believe we’re right that it’s Tarron after her. He hasn’t appeared around town, nor has he visited my club, where he spends most nights. I also found out from Hel that this full moon is symbolic to the dark elves. The veil between realms will be thin enough that he can release souls of the darkest fae and elven alike. He’s looking to start a war. My theory is that he wants to use McKenna as the key to break through.”

That cannot happen. I won’t let it. I’ll kill the bastard first, which leads me to my question.

“How do I kill the fucker?”

NINETEEN

MCKENNA

“I’m bored of just sitting around here,” I huff my complaint, looking over to where Heat’s working on his bike.

Thankfully, we were outside, and I wasn’t stuck behind the doors.

The last two days, that’s exactly where I’ve been, and it was not fun. Well, it was in some ways, but neither Heat nor I could stay cooped up for that long without substance.

I did get to enjoy giving him a lap dance, and he installed a pole in his room, after moving his desk out. He wanted to be able to have private shows from me. I’ve definitely enjoyed dancing for him. It’s way more fun than being on stage in front of a bunch of strangers. Even better, it was interesting to do this for Heat, especially when he was done watching and decided to fuck me while I held on to the pole. He took stripping for him to a whole new level.

“You get bored a lot, baby,” he says, having learned that I’m not one for not doing anything. I always like doing something.Anything. It didn’t matter if it was cleaning or running errands. I liked to stay moving. That is, unless I’m asleep.

“Is that an issue for you?” I ask with a whole lot of sass in my voice.

“Trouble, last time you told me you were bored and wanted to do something, I ended up at a farmers market and the fuckin’ fair,” he points out with a grunt while turning the wrench, tightening something on his bike.

“What is it you’re doing anyway?” I move in behind him and press myself against his back to get a better look for myself—that and to tease him a little.

“Trying to get this bike finished up.”
