I wanted to plan the perfect proposal. It’s all I thought about all day. I thought about whisking her away to a tropical island, just the two of us. I thought about having a romantic dinner. But this. Standing with her in front of the mirror, staring at her belly that had grown overnight. I couldn’t wait. I didn’t want to. I needed to ask her at this moment.

“I have something for you,” I said.

“You do?” A bright smile crossed her lips.

“Don’t move.” I walked over to the bed where my suit coat lay and pulled out the small red velvet box. Standing in front of her, I flipped the lid open as my heart raced.

“Parker.” She cupped her hand over her mouth.

“Listen to me. I know we never talked about marriage. But it’s been on my mind for a long time. And not just since you told me about the baby. I was thinking long before that. And you know why?”

She shook her head.

“Because I love you, I’m in love with you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You changed me, Paige. You made me a better man. And when I see my future, all I see is you and our baby. And maybe a couple more.” I smirked. “Will you marry me, Paige Winters? You’re already my girlfriend and best friend. Now, I need you to be my wife and my partner for life.”

“Yes.” She grinned. “I will marry you, Parker Hamilton.”

“Shit. I did this all wrong,” I said, getting down on one knee. “Can I start over?”

“Yes.” She laughed.

“Will you marry me, Paige Winters?” I took hold of her hand.

“Yes. I would be honored to become Mrs. Parker Hamilton.”

I pulled the ring from the box and slipped it on her finger. I let out a sigh of relief when it fit perfectly. Standing up, I wrapped my arms around her and spun her around.

“You have no idea how happy you make me.” I kissed her.

“I do. Because you make me just as happy.”

I picked her up and carried her to the bed, where we made love the rest of the night and discussed when we would tell our family.

One Month Later

“Your baby looks perfect.” Dr. Georgia Kind smiled as she ran the transducer over my belly. Would you like to know the sex?”

I glanced at Parker and smiled.

“Yeah, Georgia. We would,” Parker said.

“Congratulations, you two. It’s a boy.”

“A boy?” Parker asked. “I’m having a son.”

“We’re having a son.” I raised my hand and placed it on his cheek.

After we left the medical center, we went shopping to register for the baby shower that Parker’s moms, Morgan and Laurel, were throwing for us.

“I can’t believe one baby needs all this stuff,” I said.

“Me either.” Parker kissed the side of my head. “The moms are buying us the bedroom set. So we don’t need to register for that.”

“Do you think we forgot anything?”
