It’s the fucking Under the Sea heat suite.

Chapter 27

Elliot

Claire’sthick cinnamon and apple scent has me barely thinking straight as the Beta moderator leads us to the room.

My knuckles sting from hitting that Alpha who dared to touch her, but I was willing to break more skin if that moderator didn’t let me into the room with her. It was a complete oversight to not have signed up for her heat, but fuck, I didn’t think she’d be going into heat this soon.

If she wasn’t on the ship, or around all the other Omegas, maybe there’s a chance she wouldn’t have, but she was showing signs before today. I should have paid better attention.

Fuck.

The chaos of it all was insane, the way everyone was running around the top deck going after Omegas. I haven’t been here long enough to know everyone’s dynamic, especially when Claire has been my only focus. But there’s no doubt in my mind that a lot of those Omegas were being approached by Alphas they didn’t know.

I’d heard of mass hysteria heats, but they were more common when villages were smaller and Omegas were forced into smaller quarters.

Just like a floating city, that no one can escape.

I don’t even know how many heat suites they have. Are there going to be Omegas who don’t even get a nest? I’m thankful that Claire got the last one, but when we walk inside and I see the decor, I know we’re going to have issues.

Claire falls into Forrest’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

“What’s wrong, what do you need?” he asks her.

“It’s the nest,” I tell him, looking around the space, figuring out how the hell we can salvage this.

My baby Claire has expensive taste, and this heat suite, well, it’s visually offensive in every way you can imagine.

“This was her very last choice for suites,” Wells says, as he puts a hand down on the waterbed and grimaces.

I get down on my haunches and Forrest slightly tugs her away from me. I glare at him as I pet a hand down Claire’s hair.

“We’re going to grab the mattresses from our rooms and we’re going to make a gigantic floor bed. I’ll have them send down as many sheets as they possibly can to cover up the walls,” I tell her, hoping that it might be enough to get her to stop crying.

“It’s so ugly,” she says between sobs and I sigh.

She’s not wrong. It is really ugly and for an Omega going into sudden heat who has high standards, this is enough for her Omega to be completely unsettled. She climbs out of Forrest’s arms, and with a frustrated pout she approaches the wall with the 3D ocean mural.

She makes a growling noise as she angrily tries to remove some of the sea creatures from the wall. None of them budges, which just pisses her off more.

She’s half crying and half full of rage as she throws all the pillows off the waterbed. I’m pretty sure if she had a sharp weapon in her hand, she would have stabbed the bed by now.

I come up behind her, wrapping my arms around her and holding her wrists in place. She fights my hold and eventually relaxes slightly.

“Wells is going to take care of you while Forrest and I carry everything down, okay?” I console her. “Your pack is going to make this better, and then we’re going to take care of you.”

She sniffles, attempting a weak nod as the Beta easily scoops her up in his arms. His back is against the side of the waterbed as he cradles her to his chest.

“Just this one time, sweetheart. After this, you’ll have your dream nest. I promise,” he says, making Claire sob harder and we all wince.

Bringing up the possibility of what she could have had isn’t going to help anything.

“We’re going to take such good care of you and make you feel so good. Do you know how long I’ve waited to be in my Omega’s heat and take care of them?” Wells says, and that has Claire calming down slightly.

“Let’s go,” I tell Forrest.

Both of us are resistant to leave, but I know if we don’t get this nest in workable condition before she fully succumbs to her heat it would make for an even worse type of nightmare.
