“Different good or different bad?” Angus asked.

Ben shrugged uncertainly. “Just different.”

“Okay, then. We’ll see you later.”

When he left the room, I said, “I hope we weren’t too aggressive with him.”

“Me, too. This is all new stuff for us,” Angus said. “For Ben, too.”

“Oh, fuck, now I feel like maybe we were too rough.”

Putting his hand against my cheek, Angus leaned in and kissed me. “We were in rut and he was in heat. None of us could help it.” He smiled. “It was great, though, wasn’t it?”

Grinning back, I said, “Unbelievably so.” We kissed again, our tongues tangling. Then Angus gave my ass a firm slap. “What are you thinking about doing today?”

“I think I’ll go home. I haven’t been there in days. I left dishes in the sink, and dust must be piling up by now.”

“Do you need help?” Angus asked, looking a little disappointed that I was leaving.

“Nah, you’ve got stuff to do here.”

Maddox walked in the front door. “Hey, guys. Haven’t seen you in a while.” He gave us an exaggerated leer.

“And that’s all we’re going to say about it,” Angus said, pointing his finger at him. “No way am I discussing my sex life with my grandson.”

Laughing, Maddox said, “Fine by me. Hey, did you two know somebody moved into the old homestead down the road?”

“The Hamilton Place? Hell, no, I didn’t,” Angus said.

“Nobody’s lived there in decades,” I said. The abandoned farm was a few miles from Angus’ ranch in the opposite direction from the Cheevers and the last time I saw it, an abandoned mess. I couldn’t imagine anyone making it occupiable.

“Well, somebody does now,” Maddox informed us. “Grant Cheevers came by yesterday to help me clean up debris from the last big storm. He said an alpha and beta with a couple of kids bought the place and moved in mid-week.”

“Well, I guess we should give them a welcome, what do you think? Maybe David can make them a pie or something.”

Maddox nodded and headed down the hall to his and David’s bedroom.

“If he does, make sure to ask him to make us one, too.” I called to him before turning to Angus. “See you later.”

I started for the door, but Angus grabbed my arm.

“No, you don’t. I want a proper goodbye.” He pulled me into a hard kiss that grew softer and more sensual as it went on, making my knees weak and my mind blank out. It wasn’t until after I was on my way home that I realized that this time it hadn’t bothered me to have him manhandle me.

Chapter nine

Ben

When I woke up from what I’d intended to be a short nap, the sun was low in the sky. The first thing I thought of was Angus and Colt.

My alphas.

It didn’t seem real.

After I’d gone to the bathroom, I went looking for David and found him in the living room feeding Ollie.

“You’re finally out of bed,” he said. “I was just going to check on you.”

“I guess I was tired.” The house was quiet. “Where is everyone?” I asked, and by that, I meantmy alphas.
