“You know, I never thought we’d get here. I was never in the right headspace before, and well, when I tried to take my life, I didn’t think I was worthy of love again. You’ve proved me wrong, Killian. I was always capable of it. I just needed to find the right partner. The right soul mate.”

“When you disappeared, I threw myself into writing songs. Mainly sad ones, I admit. There was one line I wrote that left a deep impression on my heart. Losing you was the worst thing to ever happen to me. I’m so fucking glad we met again. You’re my heart, Harv. I never want that to change.”

“What was the line? I’d like to know.” I placed a hand on his chest, the thud of his heart strong.

“All I wanted was a lifetime of tomorrows, but you left me with only yesterdays.”

“That’s beautiful and sad.” I hated that I made him feel that way.

“But now we can live our tomorrows together. No more yesterdays.”

“No more yesterdays. We have a lifetime to live.”

Epilogue

Six Months Later

Killian

“Hey, Glastonbury. You’ve been amazing. I never thought I’d find myself here performing in front of such a fantastic crowd. This year has been a bit of a whirlwind for me.”

I looked up into the wings to see Harvey standing there, a massive smile on his face.

“I know some of you might have seen the pictures, and yes, I’m gay.”

I laughed as a massive cheer erupted.

“I, erm. I’ve known this guy for a long time. We’ve been through some shit, but we’ve come out the other side. I wanted to dedicate this last song to him. I know I won’t do it as much justice as the original, but I hope you’ll join in with me.”

Harvey stood with his hands clutched to his chest. He knew what was coming. I hadn’t told him, but whenever he attended one of my concerts, it was always the last song. And although itwasn’t the one that had brought us together, it was the one that meant the most.

“Do you want to come over?” I asked him, but he shook his head, not one for the limelight. “Okay, you stay there. I love you.”

The crowd cheered again, and the bars ofMore Than Wordsstarted up.

As usual, every emotion I had surfaced, and I threw every one of them into the song until the final note sounded to rapturous applause.

Harvey was all smiles, clapping wildly. We’d moved on with our lives to a better place.

I took another bow and ran from the stage, straight into his arms.

“Fuck, I love you.” I grabbed his face and kissed him, not caring about the people standing around us. “Will you marry me?”

Where were all the cheers coming from? I didn’t understand.

“Killian,” Duncan shouted over the noise. “Your mic’s still on. I think everyone heard that.”

I looked out into the crowd and laughed.

“I’d best do it properly then.” I dragged Harvey out onto the stage. He relented, knowing we couldn’t get away with hiding this.

“You okay?” I asked him, my hand over the microphone.

He nodded. “Just do it.”

I dropped to one knee. “Guys, I don’t have a ring. This wasn’t exactly planned, but what the fuck. Let’s do it, anyway.”

I took his hand in mine and gazed into the eyes of the man who’d turned my life around. Not just the past months, but for four years since the moment I’d met him, I knew somehow that we were meant to be together. We’d had our ups and downs, but he was my person.
