“Him and Rosie disappeared upstairs,” Cash says, laughing. “We know what’s happening there.” I watch as Cash puts his hand on Meg’s knee. “What do you say, Meggie, do you want some Cash action?”

Meg laughs at him, then takes his hand. “Come on then big boy show me what you’ve got.” She stands and taps Ramsey on the shoulder, he stands and follows the other two out of the room. I love their relationship; it really works well for them.

I think about the woman for a moment and then walk up the stairs to Prez’s room. Knocking on the door, I hear silence, then Rosie giggles.

“What the fuck do you want?” Prez growls through the closed door.

“Sorry to bother you, Prez, Doc needs Rosie downstairs.”

“I’ll be two minutes,” she shouts.

There’s some shuffling behind the door. “Make that five minutes.” She giggles some more.

I walk away smiling and shaking my head. I’m happy for Prez that he found a woman, he was whoring his life away before Rosie. Now he would do anything to make her happy and I love that for him.

Walking back down to Doc, I stop once again as I walk into the room. She looks like sleeping beauty laid out on the bed. “How long do you think she is going to be asleep for?”

“Hopefully a while longer. I gave her some sedation so that we can check all her wounds, we don’t want her waking up in the middle of a rape check, she’ll be volatile, and we can’t risk any of her wounds reopening.”

“Definitely not. Keep her as comfortable as possible.” What is it about her that’s drawing me in? Is it that she connected with me at the door? Is it because I know that she might help Prez find Mallory? Or is it because she’s made my heart beat faster than ever before?

Rosie walks in. “I’m ready, Doc.” She smiles at me and nods her head toward the door.

“I’m going, but I’m just outside, if she wakes up, I’ll be straight in.” I leave the room and stand outside.

Half an hour later I hear Rosie shout, “You can come back in Braxton.”

I sit beside the bed and keep watch.

It’s a couple of hours later when she begins moving in the bed. She opens her eyes and looks around the room and I can see the fear as she realizes she’s somewhere different. When her eyes land on me, she relaxes. All her memories come flooding back. She sits up quickly and wraps her arms around her bent knees.

“Where am I?”

“Hey, you’re at the Black Saints MC clubhouse, you came to us, remember?” I’m talking softly to not frighten her.

“Yes, are you Blake?” She struggles to breathe. I lean over and hand her the straw in the cup of water.

“Here drink some of this.” She takes a few sips and then leans back against the bedhead.

“I’m not Blake, I’ll get him for you in a minute. I’m Braxton.” I smile at her to try and ease her apparent fear.

“I’m Piper,” she whispers so I can barely hear her.

“Hey Piper,” I say and reach out for her hand. “We are going to look after you. Doc has already patched you up and given you some meds for infection, stitches and made sure that you are healing well.”

She looks down at her body and sees stitches, bandages and cream.

“I need to see Blake. That’s why I’m here.” She stares at me, her eyes burning into my soul.

I squeeze her hand. “I’ll get him now, sweetheart.” I let go of her hand and reach for my phone.

Calling Prez, he answers on the first ring. “She awake?”

“Yes, she is and she’s looking for you, but remember what Doc said.”

“Don’t need you telling me what to do VP.”

“I know Prez, but you need to be careful, bring Rosie.”
