Prologue

PIPER

PIPER

It’s taken me two weeks to find the Black Saints MC. I’ve stuck to forests, train tracks and behind walls to get here unseen. My military training has helped me to stay undetected. There is no chance I am going back now.

I’m filthy dirty, I don’t remember the last time I had a wash, the last time I ate. I feel like I’m on the verge of collapse, but I can see the gates of the compound in the distance. I know that I am risking my life by stepping foot on their compound, but I have to take the risk that Mallory is right, and they will help us. I need to save her, and I need their help to do it.

There’s a man at the gate. “Hey, you can’t just walk in like that. It’s not open club night.”

“Razor... Mallory... Said he would help.”

The man looks at me and I stumble towards him. He catches me and uses his cell to make a call.

“VP there’s a woman here, she mentioned Razor’s name, and someone called Mallory.” He looks at me. I push him with all my strength.

“VP she just pushed past me and is on her way to the door. What do you want me to do?”

I don’t hear him anymore, I see the door and open it, stumbling inside. I look around the room, it’s full of men and women and they are all staring at me.

I might have felt intimidated except for the fact that they all look concerned. They are nothing like the men who have been holding us hostage. But then again, how do I know that?

I scan the room, looking for someone who looks like Mallory. I don’t see anyone, except my eyes land on a gorgeous man with beautiful blue eyes that I just want to get lost in. I feel drawn to him and move a step closer to him. He looks like he might help me.

Then again, they might want to kill me. I stare at the man with the blue eyes.

“Mallory… Mallory said you’d help…” then I fall to the ground as everything gets dizzy and turns black.

Chapter One

BRAXTON

Seeing the woman drop to the floor, there’s only one thing I can do. I rush to catch her, noting how frail she is when she’s in my arms. Lifting her up, I turn to Razor, and he nods his head.

I hear Prez telling someone that Mallory is his sister who disappeared two years ago.

“Someone call Doc. Rosie, we’ll need you too.” I march out of the room and take this frail woman to a spare room in the clubhouse.

Laying her down on the bed, I look at her. She’s beautiful and my heart squeezes at the thought of someone hurting her. She is black and blue, her eye is swollen shut and she is filthy.

Razor and Rosie come into the room. “Brax, grab a bowl of warm water, not too hot, we need to clean her up so that we can see the extent of her injuries.” Rosie is in nurse mode.

I move to the bathroom to get the bowl and fill it up.

“Razor, she looks so frail. This poor woman has been through hell.”

“I need her looked after, she mentioned Mallory’s name, does that mean she knows where she is?” His voice is shaky, and I know he’s feeling emotional.

“Hey, let's just get her to a state where she can talk to us then we will find out everything she knows. It must mean that Mallory is still alive. Let’s just focus on that.” Rosie is so good for Prez. She calms him down and grounds him.

Walking back in the room, I pull the chair up and dip the cloth into the warm water, squeezing out the excess. Leaning over the woman, I begin cleaning her.

“Brax, I’ll do that,” Rosie says as he touches my shoulder.

“No, it’s fine. I’ll do it.” I don’t know why I want to do it but there’s something about this woman.

Just then Doc comes into the room. “Who’s hurt?” He stops short when he looks over at the woman in the bed. “Who is she?”
