“Probably because they can?” I was genuinely confused by this conversation.
“Take it the fuck down now!”
“First of all, calm the fuck down screaming at me. Let’s start there. If you can’t communicate like a fucking adult, we’re not going to communicate at all.”
Stone reached over, turned the light on, and sat up. Kiano propped his head up on his hand.
“Jiselle, I’m not fucking playing with you,” Rene hissed.
“I’ll talk to you later then.” I hung up the call and immediately put my phone on do not disturb.
“Is everything okay?” Kiano asked.
“Who was that yelling at you, Selle?”
“Rene.” I forced a tight smile. “He, uhm, may have found my cam site.”

I reached forward and answered the call coming through my car with my eyes still focused on the road.
“Hello?”
“Hi, Kiano. It’s Lisa.”
“I know who you are, Lisa.” I chuckled at my secretary introducing herself like I didn't have Caller ID.
“Well, I was able to notify your online meeting that you would call in and emails are being forwarded to your father for the day, but unfortunately I was only able to reschedule two of your in-person meetings for tomorrow. The third won’t be able to reschedule until next week.”
“That’s fine. Just look at my calendar and drop them wherever you can fit them. If they need something sooner, get with my parents and see if one of them can take the meeting.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Thank you, Lisa.”
“Of course.”
I hung up without another word and bobbed my head as my music began playing again. I tapped my hands to the beat on the steering wheel and only slightly zoned out during my several hours long drive.
Once I got to my destination, I grabbed my gun from the glove compartment and hopped out. I tucked it into the back of my pants as I walked toward the apartment building. I looked both ways before jogging across the street and walking until I saw the building I was searching for.
I walked over casually and took the stairs to the second floor. I’d called a friend of my family in advance, so there was a key beneath the mat. I let myself inside and closed the door behind me lightly with my eyes already trailing the place. It was cute, a little quaint but cute nonetheless.
I heard the television and the shower running. I took slow, measured steps toward the living room and paused to peer around the wall. I didn’t see anyone so I walked further inside. My eyes automatically went to a picture of Jiselle. I gravitated toward it and snatched it up as soon as I was close enough. She’d been an adorable kid. It was a picture of her and Rene both smiling at the camera like they were getting paid.
I wondered briefly what our children would look like, half Jiselle and half me and half her and Stone. A smile crossed my face before I could stop it.
My head tilted as the water in the shower stopped running. I exhaled, set the picture back down, and turned around, freeing my gun and taking a seat on the couch. I checked my phone while I waited for Rene to walk out, and when he did, he jumped and cursed.
“What the fuck?!”
“What’s up?” I nudged my head in his direction.
He opened his mouth then shut and opened it again.
“Kiano?” His eyebrows dipped in the middle as he remembered me. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“Dating your sister for starters.” I shrugged nonchalantly.
