“Well, we slept this long. Come lay back down.”
“No.” I laughed. “Get up. I have to pee.”
“Alright.” Stone closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “A’ight.”
He pushed himself up and stretched.
“You live closer; so we’re going to your place,” I decided.
“Alright, baby. Let’s do it.”
“Can I just stay laid out here while you drive?”
“No.” He leaned down and bit my leg so hard I squeaked. I hit him in the shoulder and he laughed. “If I have to get up, so do you. Let’s go.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
I stretched while Stone opened his trunk and hopped out. He looked around briefly before opening his arms to me. I let him take me with my blanket wrapped around my arms and he carried me to the passenger side.
I was knocked out before we even left the parking lot and Stone let me sleep until we got to his place. When I woke up again, he was doing his best to hold me and unlock the door. I rubbed my face along his jaw and he smiled.
“You can put me down.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhm.”
He set me down carefully and I yawned and stretched while he unlocked the door and pushed it open.
The inside of his house was filled with sound and movement. Joss and Xy were at the table with another boy I assumed was the brother I hadn’t met and a woman.
“Just sneaking in?” Stone’s brother cracked.
“Nigga, I’m barely sneaking,” he scoffed. “Selle, that’s my baby brother Drake and my sister-in-law Leann. Y’all, this is my…” He looked back at me and I lifted an eyebrow. “Y’all’s future sister-in-law.”
Drake whistled. “She put that shit on you, huh?”
“Shut the fuck up.” Stone hit him in the back of his head as he walked further into the kitchen.
I snickered. Leann shook her head.
“Nice to meet you too.” She smiled and shifted her daughter from one shoulder to the other. “I made coffee and breakfast if either of you is interested.”
“Thank you.” Stone pulled out a chair and gestured for me to sit.
“I’ve got plans after school. You gon’ pick me up or do I need to figure shit out?” Drake asked.
“I can scoop you. Just text me.” Stone walked over to the stove and looked into the skillets. “You ended up figuring out that problem Xy had?”
“Yeah. I had some chick on my roster who is apparently a math wizard. She helped him get it done.”
“Good looking out.” He walked back toward the table. “Want me to feed Junie so you can have breakfast?” he asked Leann.
“Do you mind?”
“Hell nah.” He plucked the baby from Leann’s arms and settled her into the crook of one of his arms. “You want some breakfast, baby?”
“No, thank you. I’m still only half awake.”
