“Fuck no,” I giggled. “The last thing we need is for people we work with to think we’re a couple.”
“I mean, we are a couple so…”
“Says who?” My eyebrows fiddled together and I shifted my bag to my other shoulder.
“Says me,” he deadpanned. “But how do you want to play this shit? With work and all that?”
“I don’t know. I don’t usually report who I’m fucking so I don’t think it’ll be an issue. We’ll just live our lives business as usual, and since you’ve been in love with me forever, you shouldn’t throw anyone off by how obsessed with me you are,” I joked.
Stone chuckled and shook his head. “Yeah, a’ight.” He stopped beside my car and opened the door for me. “I’ll follow you out.”
“Okay.” I tossed my bag inside and gave Stone a quick kiss that looked like it shocked him before I climbed in.
We both got to work ten minutes before our shifts started and split up to do our regular duties. I jumped into bartending, which I loved. I liked being at the club alongside the team I worked with, the location, and most of the customers. They were usually nice and tipped well since they were typically tourists looking to get recorded hurricane shots and more so around for the experience. Making several hundred dollars a night on top of the money I brought in from camming had me living well and I had no plan to give it up anytime soon.
Just like every other night, the bar started jumping as soon as the door was open and me and the ladies jumped into welcoming customers.
It was a typical shift except for the fact Stone and I kept getting caught glancing at each other. I handed out more hurricane shots than I had in a while and was four hours into my shift when I did a double take at the sight of a dude I was sure I’d seen in the bar before.
He walked up to the bar and I blinked at him.
“What can I get for you?”
“Just your number and whatever you recommend.”
“My number?”
“That’s right.”
“Is that what you came here for?”
“Yeah,” he admitted. “I tried to let it go since you didn’t want to give me your number last weekend but I couldn’t get you off my mind so I decided to give it another shot.”
I let my eyes trail over him and realized I recognized him. Kiano. He wasn’t wearing the partial suit he’d worn last time. He was instead wearing a plain black shirt and khaki slacks. He had one hand shoved into his pocket, and even though he was attractive, he still looked like a corporate worker.
I was sure I’d break him if given the chance. He didn’t even know what he was asking for honestly.
“I’ll give you points for being consistent, but if you’re not going to buy liquor at the bar, you’re going to have to walk away from it, sweetheart.”
“I’ll take another hurricane shot.”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay.” I gathered what I needed but walked around the bar instead of reaching over. “Come here.” I held the water and shotin one hand and used the other to curl two of my fingers into his belt loop.
I pulled him and his hands instantly went to my waist.
“You look beautiful,” he said.
“Thank you.” I looked up at him, chuckled, and shook my head. “You’re so cute it’s disgusting.” I slapped his face softly.
“Cute enough for you to let me take you out?”
“Sweetie, you see that man over there?” I grabbed his jaw and turned his head toward where Stone and the other security guard were. “The tall one in the dark blue shirt staring at us right now?”
“I see him.” He lifted his hand in a partial wave and Stone’s eyes went to me before he nudged his head in greeting.
