“Water,” he demands. “My throat is killing me.”
I laugh, throwing myself forward and pulling him in a hug. He wiggles out of my hold and the door creaks open.
“What's going on?” Nurse Wendy's eyes widen when she looks between me and my very annoyed brother.
“He's awake,” I declare. They lowered his dosage of pain meds days ago after removing the ventilator and said he'll open his eyes when he's ready. This day couldn't come fast enough. Especially after everything that's happened. He became the sole owner of the feed store and hay business when the other two guys disappeared. The cops think they left the country inhiding after all the drugs that were found in their possessions but I know better.
It's only because I pretended to be asleep when Nicolas made them scream in his basement. He thinks he's the only sneaky one with cameras everywhere. I replayed the videos of all the torture he put them through. I needed to see it. I needed to know they were all really good and could never come back. I needed to know for me, my brother and Mr. Wiggles. Those jerks deserved it and we deserve to keep what they almost stole.
Glenn doesn't need to know all the gritty details though. Only that everything was going to be better now. He doesn't have to know that Chris and Randy wanted him dead so they could take over everything. The house would have been left to who he thought was his best friend too and it's why they came after me too.
They couldn't have everything that was his as long as I was alive. They didn't finish the job with him because they didn't see him as a threat and wanted to use him to keep me here longer. Jokes on them because I was going to stay either way.
“What's going on?” Glenn asks after taking a sip of the water Wendy's pours him.
“You were in an accident and underwent many life saving surgeries. It all led to you needing to be in an induced coma.”
“I was in an accident?”
“Yeah. You crashed your motorcycle.”
“You did always warning me about that thing,” he says groggily.
“Yeah.” I smile. “I did.”
“Did my bike survive too?”
My lips turn down and I rest a hand on his arm. “No.”
“Guess that takes care of that then.”
I laugh. “Sure does. Don't worry, you still have your pick up and it's in the car port right where you left it.”
He rubs at his head, sitting up higher. “Yeah. I don’t think I'll be driving anything for a long while.”
I snort. “I don't blame you. You have me here though so don't have to.”
“You've been here all this time?” His forehead wrinkles.
“Yeah and I don't plan on leaving. I'm pretty sure your animals like me better anyway.”
Rolling his eyes, he chuckles. “Sure they do. What did you have to drug them with to make that happen?”
“My vibrating joy and laughter.”
He laughs some more and I laugh with him. I didn't know if we'd ever have this again. Now that we do, I'll find more ways to keep enjoying moments where we can.
Glenn's eyebrows jump when loud footsteps approach me from behind. I look back and Nicolas is giving me that almost smile, placing a hand on my shoulder. He's never very affectionate and doesn't care to cuddle but it doesn't stop him from meeting me halfway. I soak it all up too, not caring how many times he wraps his arms around me as long as I get to be the only one who gets to be wrapped around his cock whenever I beg enough for it.
“Who's this?” Glenn's gaze bounces between us and then recognition shines in his eyes. “Wait…you're my neighbor, aren't you?”
“I am.”
“He's a little more than that too,” I say slyly.
“You two are…so not only do you move into my house and take over my animals but you also found yourself a new boyfriend.”
I laugh and Nicholas lets out a small grunt. “We hadn't really given it a name but I guess it's what fits best.”
