He hums and then maxes out the vibration and squeezes the base of my cock with his hand at the same time. I couldn’t hold back if I wanted to. I throw my head back and surrender to waves of pleasure so intense they turn into body-shaking sobs as I spill into his mouth, my balls clenching and my cock pulsingagainst his lapping tongue until I’m breathless and completely drained.
Spettro sucks me until I sag against the bed, and then he turns off the vibrations of the plug and lets my oversensitive cock slip from between his lips with an obscenely wet slurp. He sets the remote aside and crawls back up my body, sprawling on top of me, both of us sticky with sweat and cum. I can feel the weight of his exhaustion, the nights of lost sleep catching up with him all at once, and I card my fingers through his hair and let my other hand rest between his shoulders.
“Is this okay?” I ask.
Spettro nods. “I trust you to know when it’s okay to touch me.”
The weight of that trust is heavy, but I’m sure I can bear it. I’ll learn all the ways he likes to be touched, and I’ll make sure that pleasure and love are the only things his skin ever feels again if it’s the last thing I do.
“Sleep, Spettro, knowing that this city is a better place tonight because of you,” I whisper, and he sinks a little deeper on top of me, his body relaxing fully in a way I’m sure it hasn’t in seven long years.
“I love you, Alessio,” he murmurs, his words slightly slurred as exhaustion starts to pull him under.
I kiss the top of his head. “I love you too.”

Twenty-Four
ALESSIO
“So,walk me through this again. This isn’tyourgrandmother, it’s Lorenzo’s?” Spettro asks as we pull into the quiet neighborhood.
I chuckle as nerves dance in my stomach. I haven’t seen Lorenzo since before we got the news about Declan last week. No one has except for Elio, Sparrow, and Xaviaro, and he even stopped buzzing them up a few days ago. He’s left Elio scrambling to handle things and isn’t taking anyone’s phone calls. I’m not even entirely sure he’s going to be here today, but I can’t imagine Nonna would give him much of a choice.
“Yeah, she’s Lorenzo, Elio, and Salvatore’s grandmother, but we all just call her Nonna. She likes us all to come over on Sundays for a big dinner so she can tell us we’re too skinny and shovel homemade lasagna into our mouths.”
Spettro laughs and shakes his head. “It’s hard to imagine such a wholesome family dinner with a bunch of mafiosos around the table.”
“Hey, crime families are still families.”
He snorts another laugh. “Fair enough.”
I pull up to the curb just as Lorenzo is getting out of his car in the driveway. Everyone else seems to be inside already. Nerves jolt and flutter through my guts again, and I take a deep breath as I kill the engine and unbuckle my seat belt.Don’t make any insensitive, dumb-ass jokes and you’ll be fine, I pep talk myself as I get out of the car.
Lorenzo seems to be waiting, his hands in his pockets, watching us both get out of the car and walk up the driveway. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but he looks as stoic as ever, with noticeable bags under his eyes. He’s wearing an expensive Armani suit like he always does, but he’s missing a tie this time and the top two buttons of his shirt are undone, which I’m pretty sure is the Lorenzo equivalent of disheveled. He nods at me and Spettro slows his steps beside me.
“Do you have a second?” he asks.
I nod, then jerk my chin towards the house. “Go ahead inside, we’ll be right there.”
Spettro hesitates, searching my eyes to make sure I’m okay, and I fight the urge to chuckle again. Yeah, I’m kind of scared shitless of my boss, but I’m pretty sure he’s not going to shoot me in Nonna’s driveway. I wink at Spettro to reassure him, and he goes on ahead. Once he’s inside I turn my attention back to Lorenzo.
“How are you doing?”
He grunts, and it’s obvious that’s the only answer I’m going to get on that subject.
“I just wanted to say good job on the Sleepless Reapers,” he says instead of addressing the elephant in the driveway. “Sparrow filled me in that you all managed to get most of the Pass Arounds to drug rehab, and I’m hearing from Elio that business is actually up in the neighborhoods aroundthe clubhouse, which means I’ve got a lot of happy owners grumbling a lot less about the cut they owe us this week.”
I let out a subtle breath and smile.
“Spettro deserves the thanks, but I’ll pass it along, boss.”
“Alessio,” he says, his jaw ticking as he looks into the distance for a second before looking back at me, “you know I don’t blame you for the shit that went down with your dad, right? I wouldn’t have brought you into my inner circle if I didn’t trust you.”
I’m not sure what to say. I stare at him with my mouth open for half a minute before I realize I’m doing it, then I snap it shut and swallow hard.
“Not gonna lie, boss, part of me always wondered if you were keeping me close so you’d always have an eye on me.”
