The air is thick with pleasure and salty with tears of joy.
Once I come down from the heavens. He joins me at my side and whispers sweet words on my gleaming skin.
“I love you,” he whispers.
I place a finger on his chest and trace the words against his damp skin.I love you, too.He laughs and kisses me once more.
“I have so much more to teach you,” he murmurs as he kisses the base of my throat. “Is that all right?”
I nod, my movements a bit stunted. I feel warmer than I ever have before. Despite what we just did, my stomach twists as I grab him to his lips against mine.Yes, yes, yes,I want to shout. Instead, I settle for pressing my hands against the tattoos lining his lower stomach.
A small growl escapes his throat as he places my hand right where he wants it. The moment is short, and he lowers himself across my body, gently parting my legs. “Excellent. There’s no time to learn like the present.”

When I awaketo the knocking on our door, I bolt upright. I pull on a nearby sweater dress, untangling my legs from Erik’s before stumbling towards the door.
I open the door and find a new pair of wings. I miss Phaedra’s stunning color.
“My lady,” the Daemon female says quickly, her eyes flicking to the ground. “King Hades has sent me with a note for you. He said it was urgent.”
I take the paper and look down at the words written there.
Dear niece,
Since when has it been hard to find the personal phone numbers of world leaders?
They’ve been looking for you.
-Uncle A
Below his name is a thing more precious than gold and diamonds.
Elva’s number.
“He’s also sent you these,” the Daemon says as she hands me a pair of new phones and a laptop.
I accept the gifts, bowing my head. I wish I had words to thank her.
“Will there be anything else?”
I shake my head, tears already forming in my eyes.
The female bows and I quietly close the door before returning to bed. I leap on top of Erik, instantly waking him up.
“What the hell, Helena?” he growls, his hair askew. “Don’t you know humans haven’t evolved past the biological need to sleep after sex?”
I punch him in the arm, and he fakes being hurt. Then I shove the note in his hand before showing him the gifts.
His eyes scan the note, and his eyebrows raise. “Damn,” he says. “Are you going to call her now?”
I bite my lip.
“I think you should,” he murmurs. He twists around and reaches for one of the FaePhones. He presents it to me… and I stare at it as though it is a foreign object I’d never seen before.
“Go on, my love.” Erik’s voice is gentle.
I unlock the phone and type out the message. It takes me a few moments to hit send.
