“I’ll explain later. We need to get you out of here.I put a suppressor on my rifle—similar to a silencer,” he explained, “but no doubt someone heard the gunshot.”
“How are we leaving?”she asked, worry coursing through her.
“We’re taking his vehicle.”
Boone spoke quietly into his mic, updating the others on their status. Then he carefully guided her over the broken glass, moving slowly until they reached the foot of the bed.Cursing, Boone bent down to retrieve the car keys from Cameron’s pocket. That asshole hadn’t even seen the bullet coming, and his death was far more merciful than it should have been given his crimes.
He glanced at his buzzing phone, muttering a curse.“That’s Gage. There’s a problem at the hotel.”
“Gage? How’d he get here so fast?”Radley wondered.
“You’ve been missing for hours, kitten.Damn near scared me to death,” Boone admitted, his voice gruff.“Holt got him on a private jet to get down here ASAP.”
“The terror plot!”she cried out, sucking in a gasp.
“It’s fine.Gage is monitoring the camera feeds back at the hotel now.I’ve got your phone and backpack in our hotel room.I found them in the alley,” he said, his voice choked with emotion.“I’m so damn glad you’re okay,” he added, pausing a moment to give her a tender kiss.“Are you okay to walk out of here?”
“Yeah.I’m good.Better than good.I’m alive because of you.”
“I will always come for you, Radley,” he said, his deep voice washing over her.“Always.”
Boone’s eyes shone with the same emotions she was sure were reflected in her own.Worry.Relief.Love.He’d risked his life to save her.
Radley reached for him, briefly frowning at her pants, now covered in Cameron’s blood.“I’ll have to change when we get back to the hotel.”
“The hotel?I’m taking you straight to the hospital.”
“I’m fine,” she said.“A little groggy, but I can go back to the hotel with you.I promise if I’m feeling worse, I’ll go to the emergency room. But I can rest in the room while you and Gage go play hero.”
Boone’s phone buzzed again with a text.“Are you sure?”he asked distractedly.“Gage thinks he discovered the room number of our guy, and there’s movement there.A man and a terrified woman just went inside. He sent me a screenshot of the video footage.”
Radley’s eyes widened.“A woman?Do you think it’s the missing sister? The one the servicemember has been looking for?”
His eyes narrowed as he studied the image.“Damn straight I do.”
