Cam didn’t, and finding out seemed to make him happy. “You’re all grown up.”
Nash, not me. “Still can’t fucking walk, though.”
“Give it time.” Cam eyed the crutches. “Then we’ll mount those fuckers on the wall.”
Nash didn’t like the idea of that any more than he had bringing home the fragments of his cast. He shuffled off to join Rubi by the fire pit, moving slower than he had with the cast.
Cam cocked his head. “That normal?”
“It’ll take time to bear weight.” I took the beer he offered. “Physio will help.”
“Harry?”
I nodded.
Cam returned it. “That big bastard worked wonders on Rubi.”
“He’s still a buffoon.” Orla kicked the fridge shut. “Rubi, not Harry.”
“I figured, queenie.”
Orla blew a stray lock of hair from her face, warm, despite the last gasps of winter still keeping the air cold, her complexion a little pale. “Don’t queenie me. You’ve been gone all day.”
“It’s a tough gig, playing chauffeur to a King.”
“Where else did you go?”
I reeled off the list.
Orla rolled her eyes. “Tell River to fetch his own parts.”
“I’m not telling anyone anything.”
“Did you at least get to fuck before you went out?”
“Jesus fucking Christ.” Cam pointed at the door. “Take that conversation somewhere else.”
Orla’s gaze flashed with O’Brian-fuelled belligerence. “No. You fuck off.”
“Fine.” Cam fucked off, leaving me shaking my head.
“It’s not too late for him to decide he doesn’t like me.”
Orla stole my beer. Sniffed it, pulled a face, and passed it back. “Cam loves you.”
“That’s why I saidlike.”
“Honey, if my brother didn’t like you, you’d know.”
“I thinkmybrother is a little bit in love with you.”
Orla laughed her throaty laugh, her full breasts pressing to my chest as she came closer. “Good. The feeling is entirely mutual.”
Damn. Was this heaven? My woman and my grumpy twin BFFs for life? It was as sweet and special to me as the quiet effort Lo had made to get to know Nash, though what they’d shared the night of the crash had bonded them in ways I didn’t look at too hard.
Cam had left trays all over the counter. “You need these outside?”
“I needyou.” Orla licked my jaw. “Can we eat and run?”
