Saint shrugged. “Engrossed. I haven’t seen his face since I got back.”

“You love his face.”

“Eh. I don’t hate it.”

For years, I’d fantasised about shooting the shit with Saint like this. Banter. Smiles. Clothes optional. It was a strange thing that it had taken loving someone else to let us have it, but that was the fucked-up world we lived in. Imperfectly perfect.

I forced myself up and into the shower.

Saint came with me and made it easier. I washed Mother Earth from his hair and skin and tried not to picture him with his hands braced on the tiles, head bowed as I drove into him.

That was hard too, and I reckoned he knew it.

“Cam—”

I put my finger to his lips. “Shh. It’s okay.”

Saint gripped my wrist and sucked my finger into his mouth. His tongue was hot and teasing.

It was enough.

We got out, dressed, and went downstairs. Rubi was moseying around my kitchen like he owned the place, which was fucking fine. Dude could cook and I was too hungry to care that he’d used every pot and pan I owned on purpose.

Saint moved to the sink.

I stared at his back until Rubi caught me, then retreated to the living room.

Alexei and Embry were bent over the encrypted laptop, Alexei smirking while Embry’s brows disappeared into his hairline. “It is easy if you know how,” Alexei murmured. “And fighting it will be too complicated. He will have to pay or leave it to rot until it costs him everything.”

Embry’s lips twisted in the closest I’d seen to his easy smile since he’d been hurt. “I like that. Are you going to mess with them all like this?”

“One way or another. Gradually, though. Too much too soon is counterproductive. A bailiff visit to their compound could compromise our surveillance.”

“But you’re gonna make McGif bankrupt?”

Alexei held Embry’s gaze and nodded. “Overnight. He owns a house and a holiday park in the north. They will be repossessed by the end of the year. I will make sure of it.”

“How?”

Alexei pointed to the screen.

Embry’s grin widened. “You’re a fucking terrorist.”

“I try.” Alexei noticed me loitering in the doorway. His lips twitched. No smile. “You are up.”

“I am. Anything I should know?”

“The Crows have church tonight. I think they are finalising their plans for their first trafficking run.”

“We’ll be listening, right?”

Alexei shrugged. “Saint will. I need to go out.”

“Home?”

“No.”

He wasn’t going to elaborate, and I didn’t ask him to. I ventured closer and peered over his shoulder. “Have we got visuals on them too?”
