“No.”

Alexei sighed. “I am not as fond of you as I was this morning.”

“Saint don’t drink coffee. Did I never tell you he has the heart of a hippie?” Cam climbed into the van and sank onto the leather sofa that took up most of the living space that wasn’t my bed or the tiny bathroom at the back.

“I don’t like it,” I countered.

Alexei’s eyes widened. “This is a sacrilege I had not prepared for, wingman.”

“About that,” Cam said. “Is he your wingman or mine?”

“Maybe I am his.” Alexei slid away from me and joined Cam on the couch. “We have a shared mission, after all.”

“And that is?”

Alexei snorted. “If you do not know by now,Cam, you are in more trouble than ever.”

Cam’s gaze hardened, but he wasn’t angry. He was trying to understand, and Alexei was making it difficult for him just by existing. It was hard to think straight with a heart distracted by love.

I knew this.

Lived it.

Breathed it.

I’d been drunk on Cam for years.

The kettle whistled. I poured water over the only herbal tea he’d drink and passed him a mug.

Alexei waved his away. “Is pond water.”

“It’s warm.” I pressed it into his hand and refused to take it back, and the van was small enough that he had no choice but to hold it if he didn’t want to launch it out of the open door.

“Why did you put a tracker in Saint’s phone?”

Alexei turned his gaze to Cam. “Because he put one in my car.”

“When?”

“The night I spent with you at Angel Cottage. He did not trust me.”

“I didn’t,” I confirmed. “And I was right. The next day, you flew straight into the Crows’ nest.”

“I did.” Alexei sent me a terrible smile. “You followed me.”

Cam rubbed his lips. “Why did you go to the Crows?”

“Because of what you told me in between fucking my brains out. It made sense that they would be the weak link in the organisations working together to kill you. And I was right.”

“He put a listening device in their loft,” I said. “Above their table. It was how I knew about the ambush on the Lizard run.”

“Not about the hitman in the trees, though,” Alexei said. “I do not think the Crows were privy to that.”

“Youknew.” I leaned forward. “And you knew where to wait so you could shoot him with a crossbow.”

Cam choked on his tea. “Fucking hell.”

Alexei tilted his head. “You did not know this?”
