Fen nibbled on his bottom lip. “I have to tell you something.”

“All right.”

“You aren’t going to like it.”

“I’ll forgive you.”

He blinked at him. “You don’t even know what I’m about to say.”

“Well I know it’s not something like you cheated on me, because I haven’t let you out of my sight since the bite, and you literally can’t get turned on for anyone else now. Whatever else it might be, it can’t be that big of a deal since infidelity is off the table.”

“Don’t you want to know?” Fenrir blurted.

“Know what?”

“How they found us at the cottage?”

“How’s everything going over here?” Steve appeared and clapped his hands together brightly. “I’ve got some food on its way,” he informed Oberon, “and just got off the phone with Claudio. He wanted me to let you know he was already in the car. The storm kept him from coming sooner.”

They must have realized something was wrong when they lost contact with Oberon.

“Feeling better?” Steve turned to Fenrir, but before he could answer, Oberon draped an arm possessively over his shoulders.

“He’s fine,” he answered for him.

Steve held up his hands knowingly and walked back to the bar, messages delivered and his job done.

“Is this why you’ve been sullen the whole way here?” Oberon asked as soon as they were alone once more. He turned and met Fenrir’s gaze. “I already know how the Wardrobe found us.”

“You do?” He tried pulling away, but the alpha held firm.

“I didn’t,” Oberon admitted, “but after I called Levi on my multi-slate, his device pinged the spyware. He’s a bit paranoid after this shitty thing he experienced. There’s a lot more programming on his multi-slate. It wasn’t hard to put two and two together after that.”

Fenrir held his breath.

“I left you alone in a room with my device. It was only once, but that would have been enough. Isn’t that right?” His eyes slipped to Fen’s inner thigh. “That’s why you actually cut yourself that day, isn’t it?”

“Yes.” There was no point in denying it. “I was going to tell you.”

“I know.”

“Seriously.”

Oberon smiled. “I know, precious.”

“…You…aren’t mad?”

“I was,” he clarified. “But not at you.”

Fen’s frown returned tenfold.

“Michelle wasn’t just pimping you out, she was putting your life at risk. If you’d tried that with anyone else in the White Frost, you’d be dead. Hell, if we hadn’t already been mated by the time Levi figured it out—”

Fenrir kissed him.

Chapter 24:

“Fiora isn’t here.” Oberon tightened his hold on Fenrir’s hand when they stepped out of the car and the omega hesitated.
