“You didn’t, but I’m not going home with you. I have copies of the paperwork. I’ll be happy to refile it and have this little mishap taken care of.”

He sneered. “It’s not that simple, Macy. They won’t accept a copy. It has to be the original.”

“Are you saying we have to refile for divorce and go through the whole process again?”

“If we wanted to be divorced, yes, that’s what we would have to do. But, we’re not divorcing. You’re coming home with me. Now stop dragging this out. You’ve had your fun and proved your point, but I’m out of patience where you’re concerned.” As each sentenced left his mouth, he took a step closer to me, while I instinctively took a step back.

“You need to leave,” I stated firmly, trying to hide my fear. He had never hurt me physically, but I had never outright denied any of his requests either.

He laughed sardonically. “Letting you come here,” he paused and shook his head. “Clearly, I made a mistake.”

“You sure as fuck did, you little pussy fart. Coming in here where you’re clearly not wanted. Then, refusing to leave,” Aaron pointedly stated as he entered my office and placed himself between my ex-husband and me.

Robert scowled at Aaron. “And you are?”

“So many things that you aren’t. I’m her man. The one who knows all of her favorite things. The one who puts a smile on her face. The one who makes her scream my name when she comes. The one who loves her. The one who’s about to fuck your pansy-ass up if you don’t get the fuck out of here right the fuck now.”

When Robert didn’t immediately turn and leave, Aaron added, “And I’m the VP of the Blackwings MC. Now go!”

At that, Robert turned on his heels, but he had one more thing to say before he left. “We’re not finished, wife.”

I saw Aaron’s body stiffen for a brief second before he turned to me. “Stay here, baby. I’m going to make sure he actually leaves.”

I stood frozen to the spot. Not because Aaron told me to. Not because I was scared or worried. Not because of Robert’s bombshell. No, it was because of what Aaron so effortlessly said.

When he returned to my office a few minutes later, I was still standing in the same spot with a dazed look on my face.

“You okay, Mace?”

“Did you mean it?” I whispered.

“What?”

“What you said. Did you mean it?”

My big ferocious man actually blushed. “Yeah, I did. I didn’t mean to blurt it out like that, though. I didn’t want to scare you off when I just got—”

“I love you, too,” I confessed. “I always have.” I cleared my throat, “But we need to talk about why he was here.”

“Not now. There’s something I want to show you. I’ve been waiting for the right time, and this is it.”

I climbed on the back of Aaron’s bike and settled in for a ride only for him to come to a stop outside of my building moments later.

Confused, I hesitantly got off the bike and removed my helmet.

Aaron took it from my hands and pulled me in for a quick kiss. “Macy, whatever you’re thinking, just stop. We’re here so you can run upstairs and grab whatever you need for a few days. You’re coming home with me.”

I opened my mouth to protest, though I really didn’t want to, but the shake of Aaron’s head had me closing my lips before uttering a word. “Go pack a bag. I’ll wait right here.”

With a curt nod, I quickly walked into the building, and I most certainly did not bypass the elevator and sprint up the stairs. I grabbed my necessities and was back on Aaron’s bike in less than ten minutes.

As much as I wanted to focus on Aaron, Robert’s words replayed on an endless loop in my head for the entire ride.
