Fuck me. My Pherra was really Duke’s little sister Harper. And she was in Croftridge. And I was being a complete dick to her. It was my go-to response when I was caught off guard or didn’t want to expose my true feelings.
I hadn’t recognized her at first. She was all covered up in baggy clothes and a baseball cap. I had never met Harper before, at least I thought I hadn’t, but I’d heard about her over the years. According to Duke, she was shy and timid due to something that happened to her when they were younger. Either he didn’t know her as well as he thought he did or she had overcome her issues. The girl I knew as Pherra was by no means timid.
When I brought Harper something to eat and a blonde-headed Pherra opened the door, I thought I was hallucinating. She had crossed my mind many times since the last time I saw her. I didn’t want to admit it, but I had missed her, a lot. The world I lived in was dark most of the time, and she was a bright spot in the darkness.
After I dropped her off at the hospital, I went back to the clubhouse and straight to my room. Phoenix needed me to do some stuff for him, but that shit would have to wait. Reaching into my nightstand, I pulled out the note from Pherra, the one the manager at The Booby Trap gave me. Yeah, I kept it. No, I never read it.
I unfolded the piece of paper and instantly felt like the biggest dumbass.
Boe,
I graduated with my degree a few weeks ago and was recently offered a job in my field, so my days at The Booby Trap are over. I couldn’t bring myself to say goodbye to you after our last night together. I have enjoyed our times together more than you know. I want to see you again, outside of the club. If you feel the same, call me.
Pherra
At the bottom, she included her phone number, complete with a little heart.
Motherfucker! I’d been hung up on this girl for months, and I could’ve fucking had her if I’d just opened the damn note. I quickly saved her number in my phone and put the folded paper back in my drawer. I had things to do, but when I was finished, I was making it a point to talk to her.

As my luck would have it, I didn’t get a chance to call or talk to her until a week later. I didn’t even know if she was still in Croftridge. Shit blew up with the club that occupied my every waking moment. I was the Enforcer for Blackwings, and I was damn good at my job. I loved it, but for the first time in my life, I was getting frustrated with my role in the club because it was getting in the way of my personal life.
When things came to a head with Phoenix and his daughter, I was ass-deep in enforcing. I did some of my best work to Octavius and his associates. As far as I was concerned, there was nothing better than spending the night fucking myself into a coma after an evening of torturing, and that’s exactly what I intended to do.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed Harper as I walked to my bike. She answered on the second ring, her sweet voice making my dick hard.
“It’s Carbon. You still in Croftridge?”
“No, I left this morning.”
“I need to see you. Tonight. Text your address,” I ordered.
“Did something happen to Duke?”
“No. This has nothing to do with him.”
“Is everything okay?” she asked.
“I didn’t read your note until just now,” I confessed.
“Why?”
“Does it matter?”
“I guess not.”
“You gonna let me fuck you?”
She coughed and cleared her throat. “W-what?”
“I want to fuck you when I get there. Hard. Several times. If you don’t want that, you tell me now.”
I heard her intake of breath before she said the word I desperately needed to hear, “Okay.”
“Be ready for me, baby,” I said, softening my voice slightly.
She sent her address seconds after I disconnected the call. I climbed on my bike and rode like a madman to Sugar Falls.
